We stayed in the Backpackers by the beach for 4 nights while travelling through Newcastle. It is in an excellent location, literally 2 minutes walk from the train station, and you can’t miss your stop, it’s the end of the line! Beautiful beaches are a stone’s throw away, 5 mins in one direction, 10 in the other! Staff were very friendly and very helpful with hints and tips on how to find work. There’s loads of information dotted around the kitchen, tours, trips, weather, surf and tide info, and loads more! The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are all clean and tidy. We were in a double room, which was basic but had everything you need as a backpacker, and it was very inviting. Overall, a really good stay in a great town and hostel, would definitely stay here again!

 When I arrived there the staff was very nice, came there early but no problem with locking my stuff! Very nice and cosy hostel, lot of people who are staying there for a longer time but who are still very much open to make new friends! And the staff was just amazing, really nice and had great nights on hearing stories over a beer! If you want to relax and have a little bit of surf after Sydney I would definitely spend some time here!! All in all, great staff, great location and nice and cozy!

I was so happy staying at this hostel. It is absolutely perfectly located, with the beach, train station, clubs and bars, shops and all within a 5 min. distance. I found friends here immediately as the hostel is delicately small which makes everyone come together in the common room like the family of backpackers we are. Kitchen and sleeping facilities were all good. Everything was very organized. All in all i just had a very pleasent, joyful and definitely fun stay at Backpackers by the beach.

This was just my second hostel in Australia. But I lived in this hostel for nearly three mounths and that for a reason..after two weeks in this hostel I had the choice to move out and live with some friends but I prevered to stay in this hostel for the rest of the time. And this was no mistake at all. The staff is really friendly and it doesnt need long to feel like a member of this family. They are helping you with every sort of problems. How to get a job, where to travel next, how to fix your car etc…
